‘It’s all in your head’ – Presented by Greenwich + Lewisham Young People’s Theatre and Drunken Chorus
at Camden People’s Theatre. It is a double bill of short solo performances around the themes of mental health performed by two emerging female artists. In the initial workshops with Drunk Chorus to create the pieces involved; Creating content and narratives from your own stories, experiences, and interests, finding your own unique style, holding an audience attention as a solo performer, how to create action, tension, humour and drama with only one person on stage, structure, form and liveness of solo performance. This obviously applies to my work, as it is a solo performance as I wish to draw on personal experiences whilst being able to hold the audience’s attention. It will also give me clues on how I can create action and tension when it is only me on stage. Drunk Chorus themselves are a contemporary performance company across a variety of forms; Theatre, installation, cabaret events and durational pieces. Their work often plays with theatrical landscapes through text, soundscapes and movement sequences. This company stood out to me as I wish to discover how much impact soundscapes and movement can have on a piece of theatre.
